How do I make an appointment?

You can book online here or submit an email enquiry via our contact form.

Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?

No, a referral is not required. If you have been referred, or seen a doctor or specialist before your appointment, any relevant test results and clinic letters may be useful for the dietitian’s assessment.

Can I pay with my private medical insurance?

Yes – we are registered with BUPA, Aviva, Cigna and WPA. If you are registered with an alternative insurer I’m afraid we can’t claim for those sessions and so you will be required to self-fund the appointment(s).

Do I need to complete a food diary before my appointment?

No, although sometimes it can be helpful when the dietitian is preparing for your appointment. We will let you know if it’s something we’d like you to do. You can download our food and symptom diary here.

How do I pay for appointments?

We require payment in advance of your appointment. Our invoices have a stripe integration meaning you can pay securely online using a debit or credit card. Alternatively we accept a bank transfer.
We can set up a payment plan to make your package of appointments more manageable

What if I need to cancel or rearrange my appointment?

We operate a 48-hour cancellation policy. This means we require at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation or change to your appointment date or time. If a request is made after this period then note that a cancellation/rescheduling fee of £30 will be chargeable towards loss of clinical time.

What if I’m running late for my appointment?

We understand that sometimes things get away from you and so we send an automated email one hour prior to your appointment to help you stay on track.
If you’re late for your first appointment, you may still be seen if it is within 20 minutes of the start time, but the duration of your appointment will be reduced as the dietitian may have an appointment after yours. For those later than 20 minutes unfortunately we will have to reschedule your appointment as the dietitian will not be able to carry out a full assessment and plan with limited time. A rebooking fee will be charged in this instance.
If you’re more than 10 minutes late for your follow-up appointment we won’t be able to see you and your appointment will have to be rescheduled, where a rebooking fee will be charged.

Do I need any tests before my appointment?

It depends on your circumstances. If you’re experiencing altered bowel habits and you haven’t seen your doctor, then we would usually recommend that you discuss your symptoms with them first as they may want to carry out some blood and stool tests. If you haven’t been able to do this before your appointment then don’t worry as we can arrange these tests with your doctor, or privately if you prefer.
We never recommend food intolerance tests, as these are not supported by robust scientific evidence. Read our blog post for more info. If you think you have a food intolerance please discuss this with your dietitian and they will explain how these are diagnosed and treated.
When it comes to stool microbiome tests, the science just isn’t there yet to give results that you can meaningfully work with, so we don’t tend to recommend these. If you are interested in these GI mapping tests please discuss with your dietitian as we can arrange these privately for you.
If you’re interested in getting their DNA tested to discover what disease risks are influenced by your genes and lifestyle, let us know as we can arrange this for you. The test also reveals your personalised impact on vitamins, nutrients and predisposition to gluten, lactose, caffeine and alcohol intolerance.
If you suspect Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) then we can arrange the test for you privately using a credible laboratory that offers in-person as well as postal test kits. Please discuss this with your dietitian.

Do you do meal plans?

No. In our experience, they are difficult to follow and too prescriptive. We believe that eating should be intuitive, therefore, we offer meal and snack ideas to fit in with your individual tastes and lifestyle.
